Swedish GPS-alarm tracks stolen outboard motors
Microactive now presents redKnows MiniFinder,
a new Swedish-made GPS tracking system. MiniFinder is designed to
be placed in small spaces and in damp and demanding environments,
which makes the system ideal for outboard motors, for example.
MiniFinder is small in size (78x62x28mm) and has
a built-in GPS and GSM antenna. With its flexible mounting device,
redKnows MiniFinder can be easily placed in all smaller vehicles,
such as small boats, outboard motors, ATVs, motorcycles and snowmobiles.
The alarm is equipped with a rechargeable internal battery that
lasts up to three days and nights. In other words, it can be placed
without a connection to an external battery in a vehicle that is
going to stand in an unsecured location over a weekend, for example.
An activated redKnows MiniFinder reacts and sends
a status-SMS to your mobile telephone if someone disturbs or moves
your property. The text message contains the place where the alarm
is located as well as a link that leads directly to a map image
with the location indicated. MiniFinder can be adjusted with three
settings: movement, vibration and tracking. You can also telephone
the alarm whenever you wish and get information via SMS on its position,
velocity and direction.
"There is a great need for protecting property
that is easy to steal and difficult to recover, such as outboard
motors, motorcycles, ATVs and certain types of contracting equipment.
That is to say, machines where small, durable alarms are required,"
says Ove Eklund, CEO of Axtech AB. "Because of our experience
with GPS alarm and tracking systems, we have now chosen to take
full control of development and quality and to manufacture our own
products in Sweden."
Millions in thefts
For many years thefts of outboard motors and boats have been a major
problem. In Sweden alone thefts of boats and boat motors amount
to about 250 million kronor every year. Most motors are never recovered.
The same applies to other vehicles, such as motorcycles, that are
sought after by thieves (BRÅ).
There are currently various ways to protect ourselves,
but there has long been a demand for a small user-friendly alarm
that can be placed in small spaces. As in the past, Axtech chooses
to have subscription-free solutions for its alarms. All that customers
pay for is the alarm and SMS traffic to and from the alarm.
We see many applications for our little MiniFinder,”
Says Peter Wedin, Axtech sales manager. In addition to protecting
your property where you can connect MiniFinder to an external battery,
you can also insert it in your child’s jacket pocket, take
it along when you go out in the woods or place it in your bag when
you travel. Authorized people can then locate the alarm at any time
via SMS. Since there is an SOS button on the remote control that
transmits the location via SMS, it also serves as a personal distress
signal in emergency situations.”
”We strongly believe in our new product.
It is a cost-effective way to protect your equipment. Axtech is
committed to user-friendliness and a customer focus. The goal is
to have the most satisfied customers in the market,” says
Peter, sales manager Axtech.
